Most of the people are never fond of reading the Bible. Why? Because in this age wherein technology is continuously upgrading, people tend to forget to take a sit back and read a book. People don’t realize that the best book in the world needs much attention more than any book available and reading the Bible just doesn’t stop in reading it word per word. Because in order to complete the reading, one must abide the Word of God. Here are six ways to help you in abiding God’s Scripture Read It! Have a daily Bible reading time, whether it’s five chapters or five verses. Buy a study guide or commentary to help you discover the full meaning of the Word. You will strengthen your relationship with God, and tighten your grip on the vine in a big way. Hear It! Hearing God’s word builds your faith, which keeps us abiding in the Vine. When you attend to church, Sunday school, youth group, listen to Christian radio or TV, or even read the Bible out loud to yourself, you will be hearing the Word. Memorize It! Hide God’s word in your heart by meditating on it and memorizing it. That’s real abiding- allowing the Word to live inside you. Break the verses into segments and memorize a piece at a time. Then when you get in a situation and need to hear from the Lord, he will draw that verse up out of your memory and use it to lead you. Obey It! That’s right. Be a doer of the Word. Obedience proves your love for God and reaps spiritual blessings in your life. Obeying the Word also makes it more real in your life; it becomes a deep part of you. Pray It! Incorporate Scripture verses into your prayers. This is easily done if you have studied and memorized God’s Word. Praying god’s Word packs a new power in your prayer life. Sing it! Listening to tapes or CDs of artists that use lyrics based on God’s Word will help you keep your mind focused on Him. It will help you resist temptations throughout the day so you can live a godly life. Never let the worldly things take you farther to where you should belong. You belong to God’s family and in order to be a fruitful member, you need to abide His Word.
