Every person aspires for good fortune, success and the fulfilment of his dreams. Along with his aspirations are his unrelenting efforts and dedication to his multifarious undertakings in this life. He even employs various strategies- along with the other so-called “brilliant ideas”- to ensure the realization of his plans. Quite sadly, however, reality proves otherwise. The prevalent poverty all over the world, the apparent failures in different endeavours of man, and the increasing worries as consequence of man’s pursuit of his ideals, go contrary to the prosperous and blissful life he aspires for. Inasmuch as God knows what is best for man, it is He who should direct man’s ways. Thus, it is imperative to trust in God and never to fully rely on one’s own understanding. Reliance on man’s own understanding proves futile because “there is a way that seems right to man, but its end is the way to death or misery”. This has already been proven innumerably in man’s life. Not a few instances happen when man, confident on his plan, ends up a failure. For example, many of those who have entered marriage were once greatly hopeful that their marriage would be happy, but ends up otherwise. A similar fate is met by those who have projected successes in their business, but end up in bankruptcy and loss. These are but few examples of man’s failures which have been alarming enough for man to turn to whom he should: Lord God. So why it is that man cannot count on his own knowledge and skills to ensure success? As the Bible says, “how can anyone know what best is for man in this short useless life of his- a life that passes like a shadow? How can anyone know what will happen in the world after he dies.” This is because man’s knowledge is limited. He can only give a conjecture of what will happen in the future, whereas God knows and can tell what exactly will happen and what is best for man. Hence, man needs the guidance of God and to fully trust Him. It is never wrong to admit that we need someone so powerful, someone so omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent to achieve success. We need Him. We need the One up there. We need that Supreme Being up there to achieve success and happiness. You can talk about...
