Thank author of this post/comment

I've always been accustomed with just letting my clothes dry under the heat of the sun. In where I live, this is pretty conventional, as people are not generally fond of using the dryer. However, transferring to a condo has its disadvantages, which includes limited space that is exposed to sunlight. Hence, I was forced to use a dryer in its place.

While it is convenient to just put everything in the dryer and just get it all dried up about an hour later, not all types of clothing are not fit for this kind of drying, as they shrink back to looking like apparel for children. When clothes are made out of natural materials like wool or cotton, the material is stretched and stretched so that they can be woven into cloth. However, when doused with hot water or subjected to heat, the threads want to return to their natural state.

I had the misfortune to learn this the hard way when, upon getting my shirt from the dryer, I realized that it was loads smaller than what it originally is. Now I couldn't wear a shirt! Sure, the shirt was color-safe, meaning, in the wash, its color won't get mixed with the water, but I didn't realize that it was not dryer-safe.

To be sure, the next time you put something in the dryer, check the labels if it is dryer safe. It is the best method that you can employ to avoid unfortunate events such as what I had. If you don't want any of your previous clothes to go to waste, then better stick to the labels.

If the label says that you should hand-wash a particular item, then do wash it by hand. It may be more tedious and time-consuming than putting it in the washing machine, but it can give your clothes a longer life. It also helps if you will use cold water in replacement of hot water in most types of clothes. Not only will you be able to be much safer with washing, you can also have a lot of energy savings.
