Last Friday, I learned that my manager will be sending me to Australia for the first time to shadow a potential project manager. I'm not sure yet how long will I get to stay there, but it's definitely going to be longer than a month. It's going to be my first time outside the country and I'm somewhat excited about it--except for one thing. It's the summer alright, but Australia is way below the equator. Hence, their seasons are quite the opposite of ours. That means, it's winter season now. During the Christmas season, meanwhile, people in Australia go to the beach for summer fun. Actually their version of a Santa Claus is a bit different. He's wearing board shorts. The problem now arises. I don't think I have any winter clothes around. And it's the summer season, so shops are not particularly selling any new winter clothes because they are selling summer clothing instead. I don't think there are any Australian clothing shops in the area, and even if there were, I think think they are also going to sell clothing based on what's fit for the season. Well, fortunately for me, a lot of these stores actually sell off-season clothes in HUGE bargains. Because they want to sell off goods that were not disposed during the previous season, they turn to people like me who need off-season clothes and sell them at extremely low prices. Shops like Banana Republic, for example, have these huge clearance sales in the middle of summer. It's not possible with all shops, however. I suggest you also look online for shops that sell primarily winter clothing. And it's valid not only for those who are going down south of the equator. It's also advisable in general to get hold of winter clothing if you want to save money. Buy winter clothing ahead. Some may say that the style isn't fit for the next winter season. But who cares?
